HMRC CDS Pre-Clearance

Since CHIEF was retired in 2023, all UK customs goes through CDS (Customs Declaration Service). We submit declarations 24 hours pre-arrival so cargo is HMRC-cleared the moment it lands, eliminating the 6–10 hour clearance wait that catches new shippers off guard.

LHR vs LGW vs STN Trade-offs

LHR has the highest frequency but gets congested in peak. Gatwick (LGW) is cheaper for some carrier contracts (Emirates, Norse), 30 min drive to London. Stansted (STN) is the dedicated cargo airport, with the fastest gate-out for non-belly freighter aircraft (DHL, FedEx, ASL). We route based on rate and transit, not default to LHR.
